InterRacks is proud to announce its sponsorship of ENS-IX, our very own Internet Exchange project!
The goal of ENS-IX is to strengthen internet connectivity in the eastern region of the Netherlands, with a special focus on Enschede. To kick things off, we’ve launched a free internet exchange where all internet-related companies can benefit from a complimentary 10Gbit port.
This is just the beginning. Our vision is to expand ENS-IX to multiple locations and, in the future, even offer higher-speed ports at no cost. For now, ENS-IX is off to a strong start with 5 active members — and we’re excited to see this community continue to grow as we move toward an official launch!
At the moment, ENS-IX is run by us at InterRacks, but as the project evolves, we may transition it into an independent foundation.

At the Equinix data center in Enschede, we have completed a full upgrade of our network equipment. As a result, capacity has been increased from 40 Gbit/s to 400 Gbit/s.
With this final upgrade, the entire fiber ring in Twente is now operating at 400 Gbit/s. This marks a significant improvement in speed and reliability, providing a solid foundation for further growth and the development of digital services in the region.

Our equipment has been replaced at the Previder PDC2 datacenter. With the new Switches and Tranceivers we are able to reach speeds up to 400gbit/s compared to the old 40gbit/s! A verry nice upgrade!

After long work of preparation our backone got an upgrade to 1.6TB/s between Enschede, Doetinchem, Ede and Amsterdam! We did this with mutiple 400gbit/s connectons paired togheter to 1.600GB/s. Beside our own upgrades capacity we are able to provice 10gb/s and 100gbit/s ports for cheap! Contact us for more details!
Soon we will repeat this solution for an second route via Hengelo, Zwolle, Dronten, Almere to Amsterdam. Creating a second route for high speed solutions!

New internet exchange connected: Piter-IX. Piter-IX is an internet exchange for the East regio of Europe. So we get a beter connection to the companies in this region.

The first 100gbit/s uplink port is ready. We connected our network to ERA-IX, and this time with a 100gbit port. This is the first time after our internal network upgrade that our network is ready to connect to suppliers with high capacitty internet speeds! Era-IX provides us internet connectivity to most Netherlands companies, but also a connection to Liberty Global. Meaning that we have a verry good iternet connection to all Liberty Global companies like Ziggo!

We opened a net network pop location at Bit datacenters in Ede. This location was choosen for its location exactly in the middle of Amsterdam and Doetinchem. Soon we are able to connect Doetinchem and Amsterdam with mutiple 100gbit or 400gbit/s connections. Using the location in Bit as a repeater site.

We connected our network to the AMS-IX internet exchange in Amsterdam with a 10gbit/s connection. We already had AMS-IX before, but we needed to stop our connection since then it was not possible to upgrade to a larger connection then 1gbit/s. So with our POP in Amsterdam we where able to connect aggain, and this time with the right capacity!

We moved our one switch to our own rack in Nikhef. With the extra space we were able to place also a 100gbit switch preparing us for larger data exchanges we expect we are going to need in the next few years. With this 100gbit connection we are able to connect to other companies with 100gbit/s connections. This means also that we are going to upgrade our backhaul to Amsterdam.

We replaced our old Brocade XMR routers with brand new Arista routers. This saves us a lot of power, where the old Brocade needed a kilowatt of power for 8 x 10gbit/s, needs the arista only 150 watt for 32x100gbit power. This also gives a big capacity boost on our internet product!
